Description
Interested in trying a gravel ride, then join Tour Leader, John Swart on this introductory ‘B’ pace gravel ride. This West Lincoln Revisited route has it all – rail trail, rural gravel and clay roads, and a tiny bit of easy single-track – all from Harold Black Park!
Date: Saturday, July 29
Start Time: 9 am
Start Location: Harold Black Park, Fonthill
Distance: 60-70 km. We’ll be riding on rail trails, rural gravel and clay roads, and a tiny bit of easy single-track.
Equipment:Any gravel or hybrid/touring bike will do as long as the tires are suitable. The gravel roads are generally well packed, and there are many paved sections joining the gravel portions, so 700 x 32c tires or wider with tread will work.
Cue Sheet/Map/Ride with GPS: This is designated as a Group Ride. To allow for final pre-riding, a RWGPS link will not be provided until 24 hours before the ride date. A paper map will also be available to those on the ride.
Pace and Skill Level: Rated B4. Because of the introductory nature of this ride, there will be regrouping as necessary. If you have any concerns about pace, my contact information is below.
Lunch/Snacks:There are no restaurants or variety stores along this route, so bring whatever drinks and snacks you’ll need to stay hydrated and nourished during the ride.
Weather: A couple of short sections on the planned route are clay. If there has been significant rain a day or two before the ride, our route will be adjusted accordingly to avoid the clay sections.
If you plan to attend or have any questions, please contact John Swart.
