Description

Sulphur Springs Station

Join Tour Leader, John Swart on a ‘B’ pace gravel ride from Dundas to Paris and return via rail trails and paved trails.

Date:  Sunday May 21, 2023  (Victoria Day weekend)

Start Time: 9:30 am

Start Location:  Dundas Valley Conservation Area, 650 Governor’s Road, Dundas (Hwy 99). Meet at the Sulphur Springs Station, a modern replica of a Victorian railway station that serves as the DVCA Trail Centre.  (NOTE: entrance and parking fee applies, $10 per car)

Distance:  96 km.  We’ll follow the Hamilton – Brantford Rail Trail into Brantford, then wind along the Grand River to Paris on the S.C. Johnson Trail. Bike security means lunch will likely be a Timmies in Paris or Brantford. Suggest bringing a couple energy bars.

Equipment: Tires are the key. Any road or touring bike will do as long as the tires are suitable. This ride uses smooth and hard gravel rail trails and some paved trails in Brantford. For this ride you should have 700x28c tires or wider.

No Cue Sheet/Map/Ride with GPS: This is designated as a Group Ride.

Pace and Skill Level: Rated B3 – Minimum ‘B’ pace with some gradual inclines. There will be viewing stops along the way.

Weather: These trails are quite weatherproof, so unless we have heavy rain on the day of the ride, it should be a go.
